  • When overwhelming emotions limit the pursuit of our responsibilities or passions in life there are effective strategies that can help regulate and minimize the emotional storms as well as provide the resilience needed to thrive in your life despite those storms. Life can be very difficult, unlike physical pain that is usually hard to ignore therefore treatment is sought after, emotional pain is unfortunately often ignored in hope it goes away. Anger, stress, anxiety, low moods, loss and relationship upheavals are all issues that can be better worked through with professional support through those storms.

  • My name is Tim Kahtava, I am a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario and have been fulltime psychotherapist for over twenty years. Most of those years were as the director/therapist of a not-for-profit organization in Northern Ontario. I have experience and training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Stress management, anxiety, NLP therapy, PTSD, marriage and solution focused therapy. With a push from covid, I transitioned into private practice at the end of 2020. My passion and focus is to help those struggling with emotional and a relationship struggles that can effect and limit the quality of their lives. I always welcome those who like to include their faith as an essential source of support and strength in their journey through life. I am an empathetic listener with a heart to facilitate relief, resilience, growth and help strengthen coping skills to better navigate the storms of life. Though my primary therapeutic modality is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy I include a variety of strategies that will help my clients reach their goals. I appreciate your courage in taking the first step in reaching out for support. I trust this will be first step in feeling and functioning better in many areas of your life.

    Outside the Office:

I love a mix and balance to most parts of my life. I mostly enjoy spending time with my wife and family but also enjoy the quiet of reading, reflection and spiritual pursuits. Some of my not so quiet time include playing hockey, working out and up until the pandemic, practicing martial arts. I do hope in the near future to restart the travel desires that were there before covid but in the meantime I try to enjoy the wonderful beauty of Northern Ontario where I live.
